Description
Food Forward is a nonprofit organization based in Southern California fighting food waste and food insecurity by recovering fruits and vegetables from backyard fruit trees, public orchards, farmers markets, and the downtown Los Angeles Wholesale Produce Market. Swipe Out Hunger partners with Food Forward in gleaning, this practice of redistributing leftover produce. Our team members go to Brentwood Farmers Market on Sunday afternoons to pick up boxes of food and then take them to Weyburn Grill, where many graduate students live, and Cafe 580, a free food resource for students located inside St. Alban’s Episcopal Church at 580 Hilgard Ave. We also now drop off to the UCLA Transfer Student Center at Kerchoff Hall!
