Alexandria House/PATH

Description

Alexandria House (AH) and People Assisting the Homeless (PATH) provide transitional housing for people in need. However, they do more than just provide emergency shelter; they also help their residents acquire permanent housing, financial stability, and better mental and physical health.

Both organizations run volunteer-cooking programs that Swipe Out Hunger team members regularly participate in. The members go to AH or to PATH’s site in West LA to cook sustainable and nutritious meals for the people there (women and children at AH and veterans at PATH’s site). This gives the shelter residents a break from at least one of their responsibilities and team members the chance to engage in meaningful conversations with them.

Covid Update: Activities are limited to food delivery and operate under CDC/WHO guidelines.
